1. I believe the honor code at the UVA is way too strict. To be expelled from the university for simply stating a few phrases without citing them clearly is much too extreme. It is hard for students to cite everything they write in a paper because if they did there would be an overly excessive amount of citations. The quote about the concentration camp was simply eight words, several of them being words like "a", "from", and "had." Is it really a fallacy for putting the words "concentration" and "camp" together without citing where you heard it from? Pretty soon in order to not get in trouble for plagiarizing it will be neccessary to cite the dictionary. I think that since there is such a strict policy about plagarising at UVA that not getting in trouble for doing something they have constantly been told not to do would be unprofessional, but to expell them with their first offense at the school, which was so minor, is intense. Another means of punishment would have been much more fair though. They could have received a zero on the assignment or even the class if necessary, but being expelled from a university is such a harsh punishment.

I like that you analyzed the statement about the concentration camps. It makes it seem even more ridiculous. We seem to agree on this one. You're 3 feet to my right.
